Medicare-certified Home Health Agency Care in the Home Health Services was founded by its current president, Ruth Friedman, PhD, MSN, RN. Dr. Friedman is a registered nurse. She has a Masters in Nursing and taught rehabilitation nursing at the University of Illinois College of Nursing. For most of her professional career she has
focused on helping older adults attain and repair their maximum independence. Dr. Friedman is a recognized expert in helping older adults stay in the community and providing support to their families. She is the recipient of the Roselyn Caregiver award which is given to a national leader in recognition of their work to support family caregivers.

Dr. Friedman received her PhD from Northwestern University specializing in Gerontology. Ruth originally started RespiteCare while working on her dissertation to provide high quality caregivers for her clients from her private practice in geriatric care management. The demand for these services was successful because of the careful selection and training of the caregivers, attention to matching the right caregiver to the client, and outstanding care management for the client and supervisor for the caretiver. Out of these grew Care in the Home Health Services, a full-service state-licensed and Medicare-certified home health agency. The fundamentals remain the same: careful selection and training of caregivers, attention to matching the right caregiver to the right patient, outstanding care management and direct supervision of the caregivers.
