PAYMENT FOR SERVICES

Personal care services are not covered by Medicare or private medical insurance.

Private Insurance

We take private insurance - Care in the Home is in network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Health Care. We accept Medicare Managed Care/Medicare HMO, and Visa & Mastercard and ACH transaction for private pay services.

Medicare

There is often confusion about Medicare payment for personal care services because Medicare can provide a bath aide to patients while the patient also receives nursing visits or therapy services. However, this benefit is very limited and only lasts as long as the skilled services are needed. This Medicare home health aide benefit is considered short-term care, not long-term or "custodial" care.

Long Term Care Policies

Long-term care insurance policies purchased by the client can provide a certain amount per day toward the cost of caregiving. Care in the Home will help the client by supplying all the necessary documents needed to submit to the insurance company, but most companies prefer to deal directly with the client. Make sure to contact your company before services begin to learn all of their policies. For example, most long-term care policies come with a 90-day grace period which requires the client to pay the full cost for the first three months of service before the benefits begin. If hospice services are involved, inquire about a possible waiver of this grace period.

Veterans Administration Benefits

If you are a veteran, there may be extra benefits available to you. Contact your VA case manager for more information.
